Shape Detectives
Geometry — Shapes

Materials needed:

  • List of the shapes to be found

  • "Missing Shape" worksheet

  • Pencil, markers, crayons

Find a partner or two other people to work with.

  • You are a "Shape detective" on the trail of missing flat shapes.

  • There is a list of shapes that you are to find. The shapes to be found are circles, squares, triangles, rectangles, ovals, hexagons, and octagons

  • Each detective will choose a shape from the list and write its name on a copy of the "Missing Shape" worksheet.

  • Draw a cartoon of the shape in the space provided.

  • Carefully describe the shape on the sheet.

  • Now list three or more objects that the shape has been posing or is disguised as.

  • Sign the sheet and put it in your portfolio.
